Blogologues: production Elements

I'm the director of my piece and I have given the cast different production roles. Umar is responsible for lighting and sound cues. Ankita will be doing the staging. Mezba will also do the sound cues as well as the montage for our production and Sunaira is my assistant director.  Having a director in a theatrical company is extremely important because without a director there is no production or anyone to give others a job to do. As I director I should guide and tell all of the cast members what to do and tell them what needs to be done and check all of their work to make sure that they get their works done on time as well as done correctly. Personally I think that I am going to do a good job fulfilling this role because I've done so. If there were things that I need to learn or practice or work on then that would be organizing everything and putting it together as well as time management. For this role personally right now the before the rough draft performance we need to make sure that we all have out script ready and prepared before our next lesson and then we would have to sit in a group again and make the montage and finally do the staging and then work on other details such as light and sound cues.

Blogologues: Finding your own material part 2

Our chosen them is "Awkward" and what I like about this theme is that we have more option since awkward situations are relatable which makes it funny and also we can easily to find awkward things and situation on the internet but the problem with this chosen theme is that they are way too many awkward situations that would make a really good piece to act out so we have a lot of options that we can act out and also there is a solution to that kind of problem. We would have to discuss it in the group together and choice the ones that stand out the most to us.

Here are the three blogs that I found regarding this theme

Contains varies posts about awkward situation.  Each of the posts are different from one another. I think this link is helpful because all of these stories on the blog has been submitted by actual people and their experience. some maybe interesting while the other ones don't have anything to do with awkward. This website mostly consults with solving life problems and advice seeking material but there are a few posts that is quite awkward.

Contains pictures, Videos and Gif images about awkward situations and captions. Each of these post are different from one another. I think this link is also helpful because we can use different images and put it in our blogologues performance by acting it out

Tells a story about one individual person and how he was socially awkward. We can use this in our montage and we might be able to act it out nicely and it makes it easier as well because there is only one entry regarding this situation

Blogologues theme: Awkward

The theme that I have chosen for my piece is awkward and I've decided to go with awkward situation that we face in our everyday life or when we travel to a certain place and get stuck in an awkward situation with memes in between so they will be used for transitions ( Will be done using a montage) and then will be expressed as seen in the blogologues performance. There are many awkward situations but finding a blog for an awkward situation can be done by the rest of the cast members.

Blogologues Research Task Part 3: Finding my own Material

For this task we were told to find three blogs that we can perform as well as interested us. Here are the blogs that I found on the internet:

  • http://sodelushious.com/bleh/
I've read through all of these except the third one (Its just cat images)
Its hard to chose which one I liked better. The first one was about porn stars and sex. The second one was about this person who would talk about others and their rudeness. The third one were just cat images. Out of all these three I liked the last one since its about cats and personally I like cats but then again I also liked the second one as well so if I have to pick one I would go with the second one. The second one contains text and words that can be easily acted out and visualized more freely. The third one have images only and no text and also it limits the idea that we want to use so it narrow downs most of our options.

Since I picked the second one to stage I would start off the text that is written in bold and make it into the opening of the scene. I will have a montage that would indicate where I got this piece from and will include some of the text that may or may not be acted out.

here is how the stage will look like:

Blogologues Research Task Part 2: Review a sketch

This is the live performance that I saw and overall it based on this online dating website called OKcupid. Allison (Co-Creator of Blogologues) decided to make a fake OKcupid account under the name Marlababy and she talks about herself ( About me, Favorite books, movies and such) and gets approached by several people who wants to meet her and the end of the show she stops replying back when everyone asks her "Marla?Marla! When are we going out?" In the live performance video that I saw the entire stage didn't fit inside the camera so from time to time I wasn't able to see what was going on but they did use the entire stage and were well spread out. Personally I liked the performance and I found it funny because they all had used a different accent when playing a different character and they stayed in characters as well. so Most of the elements that they used on stage revolved around comedy and Blogologues are meant to be funny. As I have mentioned above that I enjoyed the performance because it is relatable and we do get to meet weird people on the internet such as perverts, Pedophile and such. There was this word that I didn't quite understand which was the last bit about the "safe word" and I searched it up and got the joke and found it extremely funny. If I had the opportunity to change things in the performance I wouldn't because everything works well together and they fit in well since the same person would play another role they would put themselves in different characters by changing the way they talk, the accent and the posture. Overall they did an amazing job of making people laugh (according to the video and personal experience. since I watched the video and I liked it) The Review is valid because it has been written directly by someone who just had watched the video and liked it and also it might help others who may have or have not heard about blogologues and might want to find out more about it.
