Blogologues Evaluation

The theme that we decided to focus on is "Awkward" and we had a rough draft performance in front of the class. As a group, overall we didn't do a good job. Most of us haven't memorized our scripts so that was a huge let down and "MEMORIZE YOUR LINES!" was one of the key feedbacks we got. There were many things that was wrong with the group. We were given class time to work, I tried as a director to make sure that we get it ( our blogalogue pieces) over with and then give them personal time to work on their bits and told them repeating the same thing over and over. "Please memorize your lines" and some like Mezba would do it while the rest won't and I was still nice to them and told them to memorize it by tomorrow, please? and they would make up excuses saying "I forgot my lines". Some people are even harder to talk with. I'm at fault too, for being flexible and giving them free time when we should be working as a group. There are people in the group who would be extremely distracted so I had to keep them in track and then the other person would go away and start talking to other people.Anyways on the day of the rough draft performance NONE of the group members had their lines memorized but despite that we did use class time to discuss matters such as staging, Transitions and characters for the transition bits and we also did a couple of run through in class to make sure that we know how we are going stage it. During the rough draft performance, We did mess up mostly because of the amount of papers we had on our hands got messed up so we missed some of the cues as well as because of the voice projection of some people, We hardly were able to hear anything from backstage.

I think I didn't do such a good job of my rough draft performance since I didn't have my lines memorized, I did memorize all of my lines but I had to expand on it since it was not a proper monologue.By the time I expand on it I didn't get enough time to memorize my lines thoroughly so I had the script in my hand. Originally it was only two paragraphs so I had to expand into five paragraphs. Despite that, Positive feedback was given to me about my voice projection and the fact that I was really loud was a good thing. In some of the transition bits. The Happy birthday Earth one, I had good energy and that everyone else in the group needed to meet that energy level that I had on stage. Other than those feedback given to me. I had another one regarding another transition bit for Ankita's which was we read out the text for her bit so I did instead of Umar so I didn't know the lines so I had a script in hand. Further feedback focused on the group telling us to memorize our lines, Raising energy level and also projecting our voices properly other than that. No feedback was given to the group. In order for us to improve before the final performance we have to memorize all of our lines, Mezba and I memorized our lines while the rest chose to ignore what I clearly told them to do repeatedly. Because if we don't memorize our lines we can not move forward and work on the voice projection and the energy level of all the pieces.

For our final performance yesterday, only the three of us performed. Ankita,Mezba and I were the ones who did. As we were to first ones to perform on stage we had to explain to Ryan who had volunteered to do our lighting for us as well as the sound cues and the presentation of the slides. Overall it was really chaotic because we had to run from the light box to the stage and explain to Ryan what needed to be done and he did mess up which isn't his fault because we didn't give him much detail as to what we wanted so he had Ankita's piece and then mine and then Mezba so the sequence of our performance got switched around. So everyone started panicking including me so we stuttered and got nervous and had awkward long pauses which was mostly unintentional which made our performance a success because it was awkward and everyone thought that we were acting it all out but that wasn't entirely true because of our situation we did get nervous and panicked which caused us to forget our lines but play it out as though it was all part of the act and so despite the fact that It was actually awkward we all did a good job with our chosen theme which was awkward. Personally I think I did an okayish job with this performance and the grade that I think I deserve for criterion B would be a 8, Criterion C would be 5 and Criterion D would be 8 . I think I was able to maintain the energy level when it came to  the transition bits for Ankita and Mezba. For my blogologues piece I did memorize my lines but because the sequence changed I panicked and got nervous so I went onstage anyways and said my lines but because I was like this everyone thought we were acting and when I realized I made that into my act. I did have a extremely long pause and from everyone's expression they were probably wondering what was going on, meanwhile Ryan was trying to fix the montage but he messed it up so much that we had to abandon it and work with what we had and we did. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, our performance.

The one who I decided to critique is Ankita. Personally I enjoyed working with her, at times she would get distracted like any other person but she would also make her contribution to the group and be engaged in our group discussion. For criterion B I would give her a 6 because she wasn't able to elaborate on her ideas and wasn't really confident with her lines but she was able to perform it quite well on stage pretending to forget her lines, getting nervous and stuttering and having awkward long pauses that was required for our chosen theme. For criterion D I would give her a 6 as well because from time to time she would get distracted and wouldn't listen.
